A young psychiatrist falls in love with a patient, a woman admitted to a state hospital after having killed her unsympathetic man in a quarrel. The psychiatrist, who experience his work as frustrating and futile, takes off with the woman. After a brief time of happiness, he realizes that her mental illness is more serious than first thought.
